David Benavidez wants to put 168 pound division on notice with another victory.

It may not have been his first title defense, but David Benavidez dominated Roamer Alexis Angulo nonetheless in a TKO victory. Benavidez had the WBC super middleweight title stripped after he hit the scale nearly three pounds over the 168 pound limit at the weigh in.

“El Bandera Roja” assures that his weight is the only opponent who can get the title belt off his hands.

“If I fight anybody like this for a world title, I’m definitely beating anybody,” said Benavidez. “It doesn’t matter who it is. The only way they can beat me, and the only way I can lose my title; is if I don’t make weight. So they should be really scared about that. The only way I could not win a belt is if I don’t make weight. All you guys talking, thinking everything is sweet; you better hope I never see any of you guys in the ring. Cause this is exactly what I’ll do to anybody.”

The 23-year-old Benavidez (23-0, 20KOs) proved to be too much for Angulo (26-2, 22KOs), of Cauca, Colombia. With an arsenal of right hands, hooks, and uppercuts, Benavidez got the stoppage as an overwhelmed and overmatched Angulo’s corner threw in the towel at the end of the tenth round.

The Phoenix, Arizona native connected 290 out of 703 punches thrown (40%), compared to Angulo’s 51 out of 400 (12%).

“I’m definitely a two-time WBC world champion at 168, youngest for a reason,” said Benavidez. “I just wanna continue my career, and be great, and beat all these fighters. Now I know I can hurt anybody. Once they feel the power of David Benavidez, it’s a whole different story. And now I know that for a fact.”
